Smoke seals are specialized seals installed on doors to prevent the passage of smoke through gaps during a fire, enhancing the door’s ability to protect and contain the spread of smoke.

It includes two types, first is cold smoke seals for common doors and second is the intumescent and fire smoke seals for fire doors.

Smoke seals include cold smoke seals for doors and the intumescent fire smoke intumescent seals for fire doors.

  • The cold smoke seals are designed to block the gaps between the door and the frame or between double doors, preventing smoke from passing through and aiding in maintaining clear escape routes and compartments.
  • The intumescent fire and smoke seals are compound together the intumesent seals with cold smoke design. When fire happens or exposed in heat, the intumescent seals will start to expand and seal the space between door and frame, to prevent the fire and smoke spreading to the other rooms.

In the event of a serious fire, fire doors are one of the most important components in ensuring safe exit, containing the fire and saving lives. But they can be rendered useless by not using the correct components including intumescent strip. Gaps around the four sides of a fire door leaf are essential, it is the only way the door can open and close. But these gaps create a point of weakness, where fire can take hold and destroy the door, and toxic and smoke can pass through. RESSA intumescent strip works by sealing around the edges and gaps of a fire door and door frames in the event of a fire.

They are essential for fire doors and doors in critical areas where the containment of smoke is crucial for safety and compliance with fire safety regulations.

RESSA smoke seals are designed for durability and long-term performance, but it’s important to inspect them regularly and replace them if they show signs of damage or wear.
